Fabregas Tells Press Leaving Barcelona Was Entirely His Choice

Chelsea’s latest purchase insists he left Barcelona in order to return to the Premier League. Despite rumors suggesting that the Spaniard was placed on the transfer list because he did not fit in, Fabregas begs to differ. According to Sky Sports, the Spanish international told the press that Barcelona would have preferred him to stay. Arsenal’s former captain hinted towards the fact that it was a mistake to join the Spanish side despite saying it was his childhood dream to perform at Camp Nou as a professional player.

Fabregas also insisted that he is most happy in London. His family is there which makes things a lot easier. The Spaniard whose decision to join Chelsea was not as complicated as some may have thought, pointed out that in his time spent in Barcelona, he failed to perform well under pressure. Despite leaving with some impressive stats, even he knows those numbers don’t mean much considering most of his goals and assists came when the team was already winning.

The Spaniard also denied rumors that had Lionel Messi trying to convince him to stay. According to Fabregas, Messi told him to go wherever he is the most happy. The former Gunner chose Chelsea because of his family and because of Mourinho who apparently was very convincing when negotiations went down. Hopefully Fabregas will become the player he once was when the Premier League kicks off again.
