Fabregas confident Eden Hazard will stay at Chelsea next season

Cesc Fabregas is confident Eden Hazard will stay at Chelsea next season, and says the Belgian can become one of the club’s best ever players if he does.

Hazard has sparked speculation he will leave Stamford Bridge this summer after refusing to put pen to paper on a new contract, instead insisting he will wait to see who the club sign in the coming months after a difficult last season.

Real Madrid are heavy favourites to land the Belgium international amidst uncertainty over the future’s of both Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.

And Hazard has admitted he would be tempted to a move to the Bernabeu should Madrid come calling and Chelsea continue to remain silent in the transfer window.

Fabregas however believes Hazard will stay with the Blues, and insists the 27-year-old can be one of, if not the, Blues’ greatest ever player.

The Spaniard told the Daily Telegraph: “The World Cup won’t decide Eden’s future, I don’t think.

“Scouts follow you everywhere and he has done more than enough for clubs to see his talent, but I really hope he can stay at Chelsea for many years and become one of the biggest legends in the club’s history.

“He has all the attributes and the only piece missing is the Champions League.

“If he won that with Chelsea, then he would have everything at club level.

“If he stays, I’m sure he will be, if not the best, one of the best players Chelsea has ever had and will ever have.”
