Exiled striker responds after Chelsea’s thumping defeat at Vicarage Road

Exiled striker Michy Bathsuayi took to Twitter to react after Chelsea’s thumping 4-1 defeat to Watford on Monday night.

Chelsea were reduced to ten men early on when Tiemoue Bakayoko was sent for an early bath only half-an-hour in – and Antonio Conte’s men struggled with a man short against an impressive Watford.

The hosts took the lead just before half time through a Troy Deeney penalty – won by Gerard Deulofeu who was brought down in the box by Blues keeper Thibaut Courtois.

Conte’s side look to have escaped what would have been a second consecutive Premier League defeat when Eden Hazard produced a superb solo goal to level the scores with less than ten minutes remaining.

However goals from Daryl Janmaat, Gerard Deulofeu and Roberto Pereyra all in the final 10 minutes sealed back-to-back defeats for a lacklustre looking Chelsea side.

Antonio Conte – for the second game running with similar results – was without (or rather chose to be without) a striker, instead playing Eden Hazard in a false nine role to no avail.

First choice striker Alvaro Morata is sidelined with injury, while deadline day signing Olivier Giroud was introduced only as a late substitute.

One man the Italian he perhaps wishes he had at his service is Michy Batshauyi, whom he let go to Borussia Dortmund on-loan for the rest of the season in January.

The Belgian had scored 12 goals for the Blues this season before being let go, and enjoyed a fine start to his Dortmund career, bagging a brace on his debut in a thrilling 3-2 win over rivals FC Koln.

Following Chelsea’s defeat, Batshuayi tweeted four crying emojis – however we imagine it is perhaps his former manager who instead is shedding the tears.
