Everton have already bought four new players in the form of Romelu Lukaku and Gareth Barry on permanent deals as well as midfielder Muhamed Besic and defender Brendan Galloway. Everton manager Roberto Martinez just wanted one winger to complete his transfer business for the summer.

The Toffees had been linked with a loan move to bring Christian Atsu to Goodison Park but the deal was placed in doubt after Chelsea failed to receive assurances that the Ghana international will get adequate playing time.

However, it now seems that Everton have been successful in their chase for the 22-year-old by guaranteeing Jose Mourinho that he will get minutes on the pitch to gain experience, according to the Daily Mail.

Atsu, who spent last season on loan at Vitesse, was wanted by other Premier League clubs including Sunderland and Swansea but Everton have won the race for his signature.
