Everton Fighting To Retain Super Loanees

Everton Fighting To Retain Super Loanees

The arrival of Roberto Martinez from Wigan Athletic at Goodison Park to replace the outgoing David Moyes brought uncertainty to the Merseyside club. The shoes of the current Manchester United boss were surely big to fill, but the job Martinez has done this season has been outstanding. A lot of credit goes to the astute piece of business done by him in the summer transfer window.

He moved to bring Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku, Manchester City’s Gareth Barry and Gerard Deulofeu from Barcelona’s youth setup. The three of them have been brilliant this season and have been instrumental in the Toffees’ impressive season thus far. The trio are due to return to their respective parent clubs at the end of the current season, but Martinez wishes to retain them for next season too, as reported by TEAMtalk.

He spoke to the local press and while addressing questions about his star loanees, he said, “All I want for the boys that we have on loan is that they have an incredible experience as players,”

“The loan market is very important for us. If we can keep those players great, if not then we will have to use the loan market again.”

The impact Lukaku, Deulofeu and Barry have had is evident. Do you feel that Martinez will succeed in his attempts of keeping hold of them?
