Eto’o Says Goodbye To Chelsea

Samuel Eto’o joined Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole who also left Stamford Bridge this summer. The club has confirmed that Eto’o will not be given an extension to his contract and that he is no longer part of Mourinho’s squad. After spending one season at Stamford Bridge, the Cameroonian international made 35 appearances and scored 12 goals. Despite his fallout with Chelsea’s management, Eto’o still took the time to thank the Blues’ fans for the great way they embraced him as a player. According to Eto’o’s Twitter account, the 33 year old feels honoured to have had the chance to meet such dedicated fans who seem to have had a major impact on his performance over the past year.

Eto’o received a lot of positive feedback from fans who seem to appreciate him a lot. To be fair, Eto’o seemed like the most dedicated forward in Chelsea’s squad. Both Torres and Demba Ba lacked determination and performed poorly when compared with the 33 year old who was keen on staying for one more year if not for his conflict with Mourinho. Despite the two being very good friends from back when they were at Inter, things have changed a lot. Eto’o was really offended by the Portuguese manager’s joke regarding his age and decided to find another team to play for.

The Cameroonian has been linked to several other Premier League teams including Arsenal and Everton who are in direct competition with Chelsea for the Premier League title. Either of the two have yet to make an offer to Eto’o who is now a free agent.
