Enzo Fernandez Changes His Transfer Stance Once Again As Chelsea Make Another Attempt To Secure 105.5M Deal

Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez is now pushing for a move to Chelsea before the transfer window closes, according to Record (via Metro).

The Portuguese publication claims the 22-year-old had accepted that he would be staying at Benfica after the Blues’ failed to agree a deal earlier this month.

However, with Graham Potter’s side now back in talks, Fernandez has made a second u-turn, as he looks to secure his switch to Stamford Bridge.

Negotiations between Chelsea and Benfica are said to be at a critical stage. There is not thought to be any disagreement over the price. The World Cup winner will cost €120m (£105.5m) but the structure of the payments is still to be sorted out.

Benfica president Rui Costa wants the Blues to trigger the release clause and pay the full amount up front. However, Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali want to pay in installments to ensure the club don’t fall foul of Financial Fair Play rules.
