Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit claims that the Gunners could well overhaul Chelsea to finish third in the Premier League this season.

The Blues are currently in second place, eight points ahead of Arsenal, albeit having played a game more, but Petit says he can see Thomas Tuchel‘s men falling back as the campaign goes on:

“With what is happening to Chelsea at the moment, you can imagine them dropping even more important points and it has you thinking that maybe third place could be a target for Arsenal as well. Honestly, the opportunity they have now is a gift for these Arsenal players, so they have to take it!”

While Chelsea have been dropping points in the Premier League, there is no indication that they are as vulnerable as Petit seems to suggest.

Their title ambitions have certainly taken a knock in recent weeks, but credit has to be given to Manchester City who have won eleven league games in a row.

However, the Blues have still only lost two league matches this season themselves, and if they can go to the Etihad Stadium this weekend and get some sort of result, it will certainly give them added momentum heading into the second half of the campaign.
