Eden Hazard insists Chelsea are ‘ready’ for the challenge Camp Nou next month

Chelsea star Eden Hazard says his side are “ready” for the challenge at the Camp Nou next month after the Blues 1-1 draw with Barcelona at Stamford Bridge earlier this week.

Spoils were shared in South West London on Tuesday night when the two sides met for the first-leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

WIllian’s superb second-half goal was cancelled out by Lionel Messi’s 75th minute strike, leaving all to play for when the sides meet in Spain on March 14th.

Barcelona’s record this season on their home turf is unprecedented – they haven’t lost a competitive match in any competition since the end of August. They are also 31 games in La Liga unbeaten and on course to reclaim the title from rivals Real Madrid.

Yet while that record may be daunting to many, Hazard is full of confidence that he and his side can go to the Catalan’s home and cause an upset, especially given the Blues impressive performance in the first leg on Tuesday night.

‘”I want to say that we should have won the game, but when you play against this kind of team you have to be focused 100 per cent,” said Hazard on the first leg at The Bridge, “We made one mistake but if we’d scored more goals the mistake doesn’t count, so a draw is a bad result for us because now we have to play in Barca and we know it’s going to be difficult.

“We can play with our quality. We have good players, you could see that, so we can create a lot of chances. We will give everything to try to go through.”

Despite his confidence, the Belgian playmaker insists Chelsea must put in a flawless performance next month in Spain if they are to make it through the to quarter-finals of the competition.

“More than perfect,” the attacker responded, when asked what kind of performance we will need to produce.

“We want to keep a clean sheet, for sure, and we will need to score if we want to go through. We have three weeks to be ready for the game and we will give everything.”
