It was a great first half for Mourinho’s side who dominated West Ham throughout the entire 45 minutes. At no point did fans have to wonder if the game was going to be turned around by the Hammers.  Sam Allardyce did not manage to motivate his players even though they had a lot of time to prepare for the London derby. You would have expected them to dominate the game at least as far as physical fitness goes, considering most of the Blues had to perform for their national teams during the international break.

The game started off pretty well balanced but lacked bite. Both teams failed to make fans feel they were watching a derby. There were no chances on goal during the first 15 minutes or so. Chelsea were the first to make a move. Oscar got an assist from Lampard but missed the target. The match began to live up to expectations. Joe Cole was blocked after having a great chance to score. Hazard responded with a shot from outside the box. With 20 minutes gone, Oscar was fouled by Jääskeläinen after he managed to beat West Ham’s defensive line with some quick passes between him and Hazard. Lampard took the penalty and put his team ahead.

The game was pretty much one sided after that. Lampard and Eto’o came close to scoring but West Ham’s goalkeeper managed to block the shots. The Hammers conceded another goal with 15 minutes until the half-time whistle. Hazard and Oscar beat the defense again. The Brazilian put the ball near the left post from just outside the box. Allardyce made two substitutions with 5 minutes left before half-time, sending on two attacking players.

The second half was identical to the first. West Ham started off strong and had a few chances but faded away after Chelsea fended off the attacks. The match had a great pace even though the Blues were not as determined as they were during the first half. The Hammers could not stop Mourinho’s team from scoring a third time. Lampard fired the ball in the bottom left corner and finished the game off with 10 minutes to go.
