Chelsea legend Didier Drogba believes Eden Hazard should stay with the Blues and write his name in the club’s history books.

The Belgian has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid after Zinedine Zidane’s return to the La Liga side as manager earlier this week.

Drogba insists there is no reason for Hazard to leave as he believes the playmaker could fulfil all of his dreams at Stamford Bridge:

“Why should he leave? I think he can have this here in Chelsea. I had many opportunities to leave and I decided to stay to make my own story and win the Champions League here. I think he’s got a chance to make his own story.”

“This club is still young and we need people like him to improve the quality in terms of Champions League trophies in the room, he can help us. I will be very happy if he stays here, but if he goes to Madrid, good luck to him.”

With no new contract on the horizon, Chelsea may be forced into selling the 28-year-old in the summer if they don’t want to lose the player for nothing at the end of next season.

Hazard has never hidden his desire to play for Real, and reports in the English media suggest that the Spanish club have already made contact about signing the player.

Still, no official offer has been tabled for the Belgian international yet, and it remains to be seen if the Blues will try to keep hold of the midfielder with the club unable to replace him due to the transfer ban currently in place.
