Drogba Advocates Mourinho For Chelsea

Mourinho and Drogba enjoyed a trophy-laden spell at the Bridge during Mourinho’s reign at Chelsea between 2004-2007 winning the Premier League twice, FA Cup once and also two League Cups. He was unable to win the big one though, the Champions League, twice being eliminated by Liverpool in the semi-finals.

His relationship with owner Abramovich started faltering with the big-money arrival of Shevchenko in 2006, who failed to live up to his potential, and the frosty relationship shared between the pair was to be blamed for the 50-year-old’s departure in September 2007.

He has since then enjoyed successful spells at Inter Milan and now with Real Madrid, but has always insisted England is his true home. He has confirmed on numerous occasions that his next managerial spell will be in England, revealing that it was the most enjoyable time in his career.

Even though Mourinho has a contract until 2016 with the Spanish giants, it is widely believed that he will leave the club in the summer. His relationship with President Florentino Perez isn’t exactly ideal with the Spanish press believing that an exit deal is already in the pipeline.

A return to the Bridge is seemingly on the cards with the Blues manager-less in the summer. Benitez will only be serving the current campaign with Abramovich eyeing a list of potential candidates to replace him.

David Moyes and Mourinho top his wish-list, but ask any Chelsea fan, and they will tell you that they want the ‘Special One’ to return for a second stint. He is the most successful manager in their history and also the most charismatic one.

Even club legend Drogba believes it is the right time ‘to bring Daddy home’, as revealed by the Daily Mail. He believes Mourinho failed to win the Champions League during his time in London and that could be one of the reasons that the Portuguese manager decides to join Chelsea in the summer.

He said, “I don’t think Jose has got over Chelsea and I don’t think they have got over him. The fans want him back and he loves Chelsea. For the club it is the best solution to bring Jose back. And at Chelsea he brought success. We won two league titles and the only thing we didn’t win was the Champions League. Maybe that is one of the reasons he wants to come back — it is unfinished business.”
