Dortmund Tracking Chelsea Youngster

The 21-year-old, Kevin De Bruyne was part of a recruitment drive by the Blues, where they acquired the most promising youngsters from around the world, including the likes of Eden Hazard, Oscar, Thibaut Courtois and Romelu Lukaku amongst others.

The attacking midfielder joined the Blues from Genk in the 2012 January transfer window for a reported fee of £7 million and immediately spent the rest of the season on loan with the Belgian outfit. Facing stiff competition in the first-team from the likes of Juan Mata and Hazard, he was again sent out on a season-long loan to German club Werder Bremen at the start of this season.

The Belgian international has really excelled with Bremen, having scored six goals and provided nine assists in 29 league appearances. With his stock and experience increasing day-by-day, it seems certain he would go back to Stamford Bridge and challenge for a starting spot.

However, according to Metro, Dortmund have other ideas and would like to keep the midfielder in Germany. The German outfit, scheduled to meet Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Champions League, are lining up a big money move for the Chelsea attacker.

Dortmund have the most highly-rated attackers in the form of Mario Gotze and Marco Reus, who are being eyed by a number of top European clubs. They consider De Bruyne as the perfect replacement if either of the duo decide to part ways, but nonetheless want to bring in the youngster to reclaim the Bundesliga from Bayern Munich.

The report suggests that Dortmund have already made their move, tabling a reported £14.5 million bid for the talented Belgian.

Chelsea face a difficult situation as De Bruyne has shown the potential to be one of the best players in the world. However, they have the likes of Hazard, Mata and Oscar who are terrific players in their own right, and it may depend on the player if he would accept a role on the bench and try to impress in training.
