Dortmund star wants Michy Batshauyi to remain in Germany

Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus has urged Michy Batshuayi to remain at the Westfalenstadion next season after his brilliant form for Peter Stöger’s side.

Batshuayi has seven goals in only nine games for Dortmund after he moved to the Bundesliga outfit on-loan for the remainder of the season back in January.

The Belgian was shipped out of Stamford Bridge as part of a trio of deals that saw former Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang move to Arsenal and Olivier Giroud subsequently make the switch to Chelsea.

Aubameyang and Giroud have managed only three and one goals respectively since their deadline day transfers.

Following Batshuayi’s blistering start to his Dortmund career, the 24-year-old’s stock has risen hugely.

It was widely expected he would join Dortmund on a permanent basis at the end of the season after his initial loan spell, however given his form, it could be that he instead returns to Chelsea to help fix their goalscoring woes.

One man who hopes that doesn’t happen however is Marco Reus, who says he hopes ‘Batsman’ can make the permanent switch to the Westfalon’ in the summer.

“I would be very happy if Michy stays,” said Reus, who himself just signed a long-term contract with the club.

“He showed how important he can be for us. I hope we finish the season in a Champions League place.”

Batshuayi himself has hinted he would like to stay too, but insists that decision is not his to make.

“I feel very well here, but that’s a matter between Dortmund and Chelsea,” he said.
