“Doing Their Due Diligence…” Journalist Claims Chelsea Have Their Eye On TWO Possible Replacements For Potter

Ex-Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino and Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim are two of the names that Chelsea would consider if they do choose to sack Graham Potter, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

Pochettino was believed to have been an option before Potter was appointed, along with Amorim (who is a promising, young upcoming coach), and Phillips says the Blues have kept an eye on the pair:

“Chelsea are doing their due diligence and they will have a list, like every club does, so I know that Pochettino remains on there. Another one that I know Chelsea looked at, at the same time as Potter, is Ruben Amorim from Sporting. They looked at him, but they chose Potter out of those three.”

Pochettino does have an excellent record as a manager, having led Spurs to the Champions League final in 2019, as well as winning the league title with Paris Saint-Germain. He did, though, only last eighteen months at PSG, which raised some question marks about his ability to manage high-profile stars.

Amorim, meanwhile, has won the league and cup double during his time at Sporting, although it should be noted that the Portuguese club are struggling this season, having slipped 18 points behind table toppers (and main rivals) Benfica.
