‘Disgrace’ ‘Crazy’ ‘Favoritism’ Fans Fume As Chelsea Star Is Snubbed For Young Player Award

Chelsea attacking midfielder Mason Mount missed out on the Premier League Young Player of the Season award, with Manchester City’s Phil Foden being handed the honour instead.

The prize was voted on by supporters but a “Premier League panel”, comprising of 30 people, had a major say on who won, and supporters on Twitter were not happy with the result:

Foden undoubtedly had an excellent season but he only made 17 starts in the league for City, compared to Mount who was almost ever-present throughout the campaign for the Blues.

Of course, there is a more important honour coming up; the PFA Young Player of the Year, and it will be hoped that Mount’s fellow professionals will recognise his achievements by giving him the award.

No matter what individual prizes are handed out, though, fans will certainly remember regardless what an important role Mount played in a remarkable season for the Blues.
