Del Bosque Firm Over Costa

Diego Costa has missed the last four games for his club after coming back injured from international duty. Mourinho believes Spain boss Del Bosque is responsible for Costa’s current plight but Del Bosque is adamant over calling up the forward for national duty.

He told the Telegraph that he will be stubborn and call up Costa to represent Spain even if he may be wrong for Costa’s fitness issues.

He said, “We’ve had no luck with Diego. He didn’t join us at the best time and the injuries he had didn’t help him. In some things we are very flexible and in others stubborn, and in this we are stubborn. I don’t know if we are right or wrong, but if we hadn’t called up Costa for the national team we’d definitely have been criticised for not having done so.”

The Blues striker is getting over his hamstring complaint but was fit for the weekend encounter against Queens Park Rangers and may play tomorrow night in the Champions League vs Maribor.
