David Luiz Happy To Eat Chicken and Win The Europa League

Chelsea had a massive chance to clinch their first and last trophy possible this season on Wednesday, when they travelled to Amsterdam for the Europa League final against Portugese outfit Benfica and they managed to win the game 2-1 courtesy of an excellent Ivanovic header. The Blues were in the reckoning for a massive seven trophies at the beginning of this season, however they had not managed to get their hands on any one of them, until the the Europa League final.

In the game against Benfica they were not the better side as was the case against Bayern last year but the Blues found a way to win even when they were not playing their best which is the sign of a great team.

Chelsea did the double last season under Roberto di Matteo as they won the FA Cup and the elusive UEFA Champions League against Bayern Munich. However, they could not hold onto either trophies as they became the very first team whose Champions League title defense ended as soon as before Christmas. Many felt that Chelsea were lucky to win the final against Munich, and their early exit from the European competition somewhat justified that fact.

Also, watching the Champions League winners compete in the final of the Europa League next season, which is considered as perhaps the second-tier of Europe, does not do any good for the credentials of Chelsea and perhaps tarnishes their image in a way, at least on the continent if not in England.

However, according to Metro, Luiz begs to differ as he said speaking ahead of the final that he is equally eager to win the Europa League, and that he is hungry for every title possible.

Luiz said, “When you win something and you finish you are hungry again. So last year I ate beef, now I have chicken, but I’m still really hungry and want to win more titles. It will be a difficult game. A special day for me, a special day for my team-mates.”

“I came to Europe and many players in Brazil want that opportunity, so I’m happy. The emotion is a good emotion but when it is time to start the game I forget everything and I want to win. I play for Chelsea.”
