David Luiz hails new manager Sarri

Blues defender David Luiz has praised the start to life that manager Maurizio Sarri has made to the club.

The Italian manager joined Chelsea from Napoli, taking over from Antonio Conte in charge at Stamford Bridge. He has brought with him a new sense of optimism around the club, and after a disastrous league campaign last season, Chelsea are up there as one of the favourites to lift the title once again.

The Blues have enjoyed an unbeaten start to pre-season so far, and their style of play has been hugely entertaining to watch. Sarri’s 4-3-3 formation certainly makes a change from what Chelsea are used to seeing, but it is a proven formula that works for the 59-year-old.

And Luiz has admitted he loves the philosophy that the new manager has introduced.

“I love this philosophy, to play high with a lot of possession of the ball and in a technical way. So he is trying to help us every single day to learn his philosophy to help Chelsea,” said Luiz on Chelsea’s official website.

Luiz was then asked if his new manager has asked him to change his style of play, he responded by saying: “No, same style, play from the back, build from the back and try to help the guys.

“He has many players who can play with four at the back, three at the back or five at the back but he is the one who will decide.
