Crouch Explains Why He Now Thinks Chelsea Star Should Be Ranked Alongside Ronaldo And Lewandowski

BT Sport pundit Peter Crouch believes Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku is now firmly among the “world’s best” strikers, along with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski.

The Belgian has had an excellent start to the season and Crouch says that the 28-year-old has transformed the Blues’ attack since joining from Inter Milan in the summer:

“[Lukaku has] got himself in the conversation in the world’s best now. With Lewandowski, Ronaldo, Ibrahimovic, who we won’t see tonight, but top, top players and he’s worked to get where he has and deserves all the success he’s got. Since he’s gone in there [Chelsea], he’s changed the dynamic, they’ve become difficult to beat. They look organised, with Lukaku they’ve got a world-class forward, a tremendous header. Picked up where they left off this season.”

Lukaku is in red-hot form at the moment, having hit the back of the net four times in four matches and he looks to be worth every penny of the £97.5m that Chelsea shelled out on him.

As Crouch points out, the Belgian international is the focal point of the attack, and the combination of having a water-tight defence with a lethal finisher could prove crucial as Thomas Tuchel’s side look to challenge on all fronts.

After the 1-0 win over Zenit St Petersburg on Tuesday night, they now make the trip to face Tottenham in the London derby this weekend.
