Crooks Says Chelsea Star Has Proved Him Wrong After Norwich Performance

Garth Crooks says he could change his mind on Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham after his double against Norwich City at the weekend. The 21-year-old’s first goals for the club were decisive in the 3-2 win.

Talking about the England international in his Team of the Week column for the BBC, Crooks said he didn’t believe the striker had the ability to play for the Blues but he is reassessing his opinion after his display at Carrow Road:

“I must be honest, I never thought that Tammy Abraham was a Chelsea player. That was because I always saw Chelsea as a top-four team.”

“Frank Lampard has seen something in this kid and Abraham looks like he is prepared to walk over broken glass for Lampard. Provided that allegiance remains intact, Abraham has a chance of making it at Chelsea.”

Both strikes were expertly taken, and supporters will be hoping that his performance will give him the confidence he needs to bang in the goals regularly for the club.

Abraham has responded very well since his miss in the penalty shootout against Liverpool in the European Super Cup and it shows tremendous character to come back so quickly and put in such a good display.

He will be looking to build on the goals against Norwich when Chelsea face Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
