There have been many rumors linking Thibaut Courtois to a permanent move to Spain. His three year loan with Atletico has already made the Belgian goalkeeper move to Madrid with his whole family. He also repeatedly hints that he would prefer to sign a permanent contract with the Spanish side where he has spent the most important years of his career so far.

According to Metro, Courtois dismissed all rumors regarding a possible move to Atletico rivals, Real. In his recent statements he insisted that it is either Chelsea or Atletico. His situation is still uncertain and it seems it will remain this way until the end of the season. The young keeper has spoken about re-negotiating his current contract with Chelsea ever since the winter transfer window. Even so the Blues failed to open talks. Rumors have it that Mourinho is waiting for the end of the season to use Courtois as leverage for landing Diego Costa who is one of the most sought-after strikers in the world.

The 21 year old stopper is a valuable asset for Chelsea. Despite being one of the best keepers in the world though, it is always going to be tough to go against someone like Cech who is one of the Blues’ leaders. Even Courtois admitted that he does not expect to become a team regular if he does decide to return to Stamford Bridge.
