Courtois Puts Chelsea Contract Negotiations On Hold

Chelsea and Courtois have put talks about the Belgian’s future on hold until the World Cup ends. The two parties seem to have grown apart especially after Atletico’s win against Chelsea. According to the Daily Star, the young goalkeeper felt a change in the Blues attitude towards his future at Stamford Bridge. If that result really determined Mourinho to change his plans with Courotis, it is hard to believe the two sides will ever patch things up.

Courtois still has 2 years left of his contract which means he will have to start negotiations for an extension at the beginning of next year. The biggest problem the youngster has to face is whether he will be sent on loan for yet another year. He repeatedly insisted that he will not return to Stamford Bridge as a substitute for Cech who still has a few good years in front when it comes to his career. Even so, the 22 year old might have to get used to the fact that he might not play as much during next season. Atletico seem to have already started looking for a new goalkeeper which means the chances for another loan might have gone.

The Belgian was not too eager to comment on his current situation with Chelsea. He was rather concerned with his World Cup debut which is set to take place in a few days from now. He will face tough competition for a spot in Wolmots’s starting eleven as Mignolet looked very confident during training.
