Courtois May Have Misinterpreted Chelsea’s Position On His Future

Sensationally, Petr Cech could become a substitute for the Belgian international whose chances of playing for Chelsea have massively increased. According to Metro, Courtois will no longer be sent on loan to Atletico who recently signed Angel Moya from Getafe. This probably means the Blues have already told the Spanish side that lending Courtois to them is no longer an option. With that in mind, Cech has some serious competition to contend with as the Belgian looks more and more confident each day. His performances surely justify him a spot in Mourinho’s starting eleven but Cech’s season was pretty awesome as he led the League in shut-outs.

Chelsea will probably make the final decision after the World Cup. One thing is for sure though as Courtois will definitely not join any team under a loan contract other than Atletico. Negotiations with the Blues have been put on hold according to the Belgian goalkeeper who is now 100% focused on the World Cup which is just a few days away. His national team is fifth favourite to claim the title which makes this tournament even more important for someone as young as Courtois.

Despite the tough negotiations between Courtois and Chelsea, it seems the club is willing to start off fresh. With Diego Costa set to move to Stamford Bridge after the World Cup, Cech could end his 10 year reign. Since first playing for the Blues, Cech has made an impressive 470 appearances which is probably why it took so long for Mourinho to decide what to do with Courtois.
