Could Terry Be Set For Chelsea Exit?

The centre-back is in the final six months of his contract but there are no signs of a deal taking place between the two parties to extend Terry’s stay at the club beyond the end of the current campaign. He has spent his entire career with the Blues but it seems that Terry may no longer be a Blues player next season.

According to the Mirror, the ex-England captain wants a three-year contract which will enable him to finish his career in west London. However, the club are ready to offer only a one-year deal, in line with their policy for players aged above 30, as well as a pay-cut.

This is in stark contrast to Terry’s form as he has been sensational at the back for the Blues. After being sparingly used by Benitez last season, Terry has found his feet under Mourinho and helped the club up to third in the league standings.

The sale of Mata, Chelsea’s Player of the Year for two consecutive years, shows that the club are not hesitant in selling their top players if it is in the best interests of the club financially.

The central defender has attracted attention from Roberto Mancini’s Galatasaray, but there may be many more clubs vying for his signature if Chelsea are unable to thrash out a reasonable deal for their captain.
