Could Drogba Make Sensational Chelsea Return?

Didier Drogba made his name as one of England and Europe’s most feared strikers during his 8 years with Chelsea. He arrived at the club as a relatively unknown entity and made his graceful exit as a champion as his kick from the penalty spot sealed the UEFA Champions League triumph over Bayern Munich in 2012. He has earned cult status at Chelsea, who still love and adore the Ivorian.

Galatasaray host Chelsea in the knockout stages of the Champions League which will see Drogba line up against his former side for the very first time. It is sure to be exciting to watch them lock horns. What has added impetus to this tie is the fact that the 35-year old striker was quizzed by the press whether he would ever consider returning to Chelsea – and he refused to deny the possibility.

His contract at Galatasaray is set to expire in the summer, and he will assess all his options before making a choice. ESPNFC report him as saying that he would give it a thought if Jose Mourinho called him up asking him to return to Chelsea as he said, “My contract ends this summer and then I will decide what is the best solution for me, but I had a great time at Chelsea and if Jose was saying, “Didier, I want you to come back”, I would think about it.”
