Costa Wins Player Of The Month Award

Chelsea summer signing Diego Costa has won the award for the Barclays Premier League player of the month, as the Spaniard continues a good start to the new period in his career at Stamford Bridge, according to the Daily Mail.

Jose Mourinho will be delighted at the result of the big money spent by Roman Abramovich to bring Costa on board in the summer. And the former Atletico Madrid striker has been performing at the highest level despite the change of league. Costa has scored 7 goals in the first 4 matches, currently topping the Premier League charts.

However, Costa will have to be careful of his behaviour in the Premier League, as he arrived in the country with a reputation of a hostile player. His behaviour on the pitch will be a concern for Chelsea, as he has already fallen in trouble in the first few games of the season. Mourinho has been adapting a system where Costa plays the lone man up front, and that has exposed the new signing to the Premier League defenders already.

An incident took place at their league encounter with Everton, where Costa was seen tangling regularly with Toffees defender Seamus Coleman. When Coleman scored an own goal to further Chelsea’s lead in the game, Costa was spotted foul mouthing the defender about the same, which did not go down well with the Everton supporters and goalkeeper Tim Howard. Costa was also caught by some fans and some cameras in an altercation with Gylfi Sigurdsson where he lashed out in a rather petulant fashion in the match vs Swansea City on Sunday so the striker had better learn to curb that aggressive streak or it will catch up with him to his detriment.
