Costa Takes Blame For Chelsea’s Poor Form Up Front

Mourinho gets more and more support every day as key players admit they have not been at their best lately. After Terry came out and publically defended the Portuguese boss, it is now Costa’s turn to take some of the blame for the Blues’ disastrous season start. The Spaniard has lacked his usual cutting edge and has failed to stand out from the crowd. Players like Aguero, Sanchez and even newcomer Martial have gotten off to better starts than Chelsea’s top striker. To be fair, Costa has improved since August and looks on the right path. In the words of the man himself as the BBC have reported, here is why the start has been so rough though:

“I’m going to be very honest: maybe a few weeks ago, five or six weeks ago, I was not on top of my game. At least physically. We talk within the players and we know that, maybe at the beginning, we were not 100 percent as we were supposed to be when we got here. I got injured at the end of last season and then I went on holiday. Maybe I got out of my diet and, when I came back, I was not the way I was supposed to be. I was a little bit overweight. That affected my game. You can be selfish and blame it on the manager but I’m not going to do that. I’m responsible 100%, and so are the other guys.”

Apparently last year’s record breaking season may have left the players a bit overconfident. Hopefully something will change before it is too late to contest the League and the other competitions the Blues are in as the squad definitely still has the talent needed.
