Costa Is Similar To Me – Drogba

Diego Costa is the present and future of the club, whereas Drogba has already done it all for the Blues. Chelsea fans will be hoping that Costa, who has scored 12 league goals in just 13 matches this season, can emulate the success of the Ivorian, who won three league titles, four FA Cups and the Champions League in his first spell at the club.

Drogba is playing more of a back-up striker to Costa this season, and believes he has similar attributes to him, although the Spain international is more gifted. According to Daily Mail, the 36-year-old said, “He had a very good start and we are here to help him improve, to continue to keep his record because we need him to score goals. He is an important man in our team.’

“A bit like with me, people forget that technically he’s gifted. He can play good football. I think it’s a bit unfair to say he is a physical player. I think his technique is great and he can score fantastic goals. He is a complete striker.”

The former Galatasaray forward also does not care if Chelsea, prematurely tipped to be the next Invincibles, lose more league matches this season, as long as they win the title in May. He said, “We just want to be top of the League, to win the League. Even if we lose five or 10 games and win the League, for me it’s a very good season.”
