Conte reveals ‘the future of Chelsea’

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has revealed who he believes are the future of the club.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham made the headlines last week after making their senior international debuts for England, and now the Blues boss has insisted that the pair will soon enough make their mark on Stamford Bridge.

Loftus-Cheek is currently on loan at Crystal Palace, while Tammy Abraham is enjoying a spell at Swansea. They have both been impressive so far at their respective loan clubs, and Conte has predicted that they are set to be at the forefront of Chelsea’s future plans.

“I think we are talking about two really good young players. Ruben and Tammy will be the future for Chelsea,” said Conte.

“Now it’s right for them to play regularly. Ruben said that his path is perfect and to play regularly this season is very important for his development.

“Then he can come back and play for Chelsea with greater maturity.”

Conte pointed to the impact a two-year loan spell at Borussia Monchengladbach did for Danish defender Andreas Christensen, who is now a fairly regular feature of the Chelsea team.

He said: “It’s the same path as Christensen. He played for two years on loan and now he’s playing regularly for Chelsea. He’s young but an important Chelsea player.”
