Former Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte says he can see Frank Lampard becoming one of the best managers in the world if he continues on his current trajectory.

The Italian has been very impressed with how the current Blues boss has taken up the mantle of managing such a big club with very little previous experience in the role:

“I think he has done a really good job, Frank. This is his second experience [as a manager] after Derby County and to manage a top team is not easy. I think he has the skills, the ability to become one of the best managers in the world. He has to continue to work in this way and I wish him the best for the future.”

Lampard does, of course, have a few things going in his favour. Before arriving at Stamford Bridge in the summer, he already knew the club inside and out.

On top of that, his legendary status at Chelsea meant he was given time from the fanbase to establish himself as manager.

Not everything has gone right for Lampard but his bravery in selecting the younger players has paid off. The club are in a strong position in the league table, currently sitting fourth, and they will be hoping to finish the season strongly as and when it resumes.
