Conte hails his sides’ performance after return to winning ways

Antonio Conte has praised Chelsea’s performance last night after returning to winning ways.

The Blues saw off visitors West Bromwich Albion in convincing fashion at Stamford Bridge, with a brace from Man of the Match Eden Hazard and a Victor Moses strike sealing a 3-0 win for the hosts.

Conte’s side went into game knowing nothing more than a victory would do after a difficult fortnight for the club, and the Italian has praised his side for bouncing back in style on Monday night.

“We must be satisfied to win the game and get the three points,” said Conte. “I think we can play better, with more confidence, and after two bad defeats our confidence went down. We started the game with a bit of difficulty but after we scored we controlled the game and created many chances.

“To get three points, show the will to fight and keep another clean sheet was important and we must continue in this way.”

While Hazard was certainly the Man of the Match, Conte also hailed the performances of his two strikers, Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata, the former of the two who was making his first start for the club and was on hand to provide Hazard with an assist for the opening goal on the night.

“We must be pleased with Giroud’s performance, it was the first time he played from the start with us. For sure, he needs to improve to go into our idea of football but to have a point of reference, like Olivier, is very important.” said Conte.

“We must be pleased because on the same night we found Morata who played very well in the last 30 minutes, with great personality and spirit. Now we need these two players to find the best physical condition.”
