Cole Backs Chelsea’s Move For £60m Rated England International

Former Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole says he would love to see Leicester defender Ben Chilwell at Stamford Bridge next season.

The Blues have been heavily linked with the England international, and Cole thinks the fullback has what it takes to be a success if he were to make a move to the London club:

“I’d love to see [Ben Chilwell] here. I think he’s a quality player, I’ve heard he’s a Chelsea fan so yes I’d like to see him here, It’s a big decision for the club but quality-wise for sure he is good enough.”

“But that depends on if he wants to leave or if Leicester will sell him – that’s something the clubs would need to talk about.”

Cole’s point about Leicester’s stance is an apt one as it is believed the Foxes will only countenance bids of £60m or above for Chilwell.

Whether that will price Chelsea out of the race for the 23-year-old, we shall have to wait and see, but the club are said to be looking at a number of options to strengthen at left-back.

Manager Frank Lampard is not happy with either Marcos Alonso or Emerson, and in addition to Chilwell, the Blues have also been linked with Bayern Munich’s David Alaba and Porto’s Alex Telles over the past few months.
