Club Director Claims Peru International Is Being Watched By Chelsea But “No Offers” Have Been Made

Chelsea are tracking Velez Sarsfield centre-back Luis Abram, according to club director Rodrigo Rapisarda. However, while the Blues are said to be watching the 24-year-old, no official bid has been made yet:

“We have nothing, there hasn’t even been communication with Chelsea in recent days. With all this coronavirus situation the club is stopped, we only work remotely, but we haven’t received anything for Luis Abram.”

“Of course, they watch him because he is a very good player, but we have no offers from Chelsea.”

Abram has been capped 20 times by Peru and moved to Argentinian football from Sporting Cristal in January 2018. He does generally play as a centre-half but he can also play at left-back.

Chelsea’s interest may well be down to the fact that Abram is a left-sided defender. All four of Frank Lampard’s current centre-backs are right-footed, and it is not surprising that the other defender they are interested in, Lille’s Gabriel Magalhaes, is also strongest on the left.

Abram has an Italian passport so getting a work permit should also not be a problem. Whether the London club will follow up their interest in Peruvian international with a formal offer when the transfer window reopens, we shall have to wait and see.
