Club Chief Believes Chelsea Are Set To Sign A “Player With Great Potential” For £38.5M Below His Market Value

Villarreal CEO Roig Negueroles believes Chelsea target Nicolas Jackson could be worth as much as €80m (£68.5m) in the future.

A release clause means the Blues will be able to snap up the striker for only €35m (£30m) and Negueroles says the Yellow Submarine are powerless due to the terms of the Senegalese international’s contract:

“Jackson is a player with great potential, and he may be worth €80mm in the future. Now this is the contract that he has and the clause that he has, and I don’t think that amounts like that should be underestimated.”

Jackson is expected to undergo a medical in London this week, and it is believed he will sign a a deal keeping him at Chelsea until the summer of 2028.

The Blues have seen off competition for Jackson’s signature

It is thought that a number of different Premier League clubs had registered an interest in the 22-year-old.

West Ham, Tottenham and Aston Villa have all been mentioned as potential suitors in recent days but Jackson is said to have made a move to Stamford Bridge a priority.

Jackson’s recent form has been outstanding

The Senegalese forward finished last season with a string of excellent performances that saw him score nine goals in his final eight league matches.

There are question marks over whether Jackson can carry that form on, considering he had not been a prolific scorer in his senior career up until very recently.

However, Negueroles seems to believe that Chelsea have got themselves a bargain, which does suggest that the striker has the potential to kick on and really make a name for himself in England.

Of course, adapting to a new league and country can take some time so patience may be needed but it appears supporters should be very excited about Jackson’s prospects.
