City Want Lampard To Join Villa At New York

The England midfielder, Frank Lampard spent 13 glorious seasons at Stamford Bridge but has confirmed he will leave Chelsea this summer. The 35-year-old is keen to extend his playing career and is weighing up his future options post the World Cup in Brazil.

There has been interest from the MLS and the former West Ham player is tempted to join a club in the USA, according to the Daily Mail.

Manchester City’s new franchise in the MLS, New York City FC, is set to open in 2015 and they have already confirmed the signing of Spain striker David Villa. The club are looking to add another marquee player to their ranks, with Lampard top of their wish list.

With the MLS season not starting until next Spring, City will also offer Lampard the chance to continue playing in the A-League with Melbourne City after which he can link up with New York.
