Christian Pulisic Delivers Fresh Update On His Chelsea Future

Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic has confirmed that he is “happy” with his role at the Blues and is prepared to stay at Stamford Bridge for the long term.

The American international has been in and out of the first team under the last two managers, Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel, with injuries playing a major part in him being unable to establish himself as a key player. However, while he is not thinking about a new contract currently, Pulisic says he is settled at the London club:

“Of course, I still have years left on my contract. I’m feeling good, I’m happy here. We’ve been successful, we’ve done some great things as a team while I’ve been here. Currently, I am enjoying my football and I’m just going to finish the season out strong. (Extending my contract is) not something exactly I’m worried about right now but I’m feeling good right now.”

Pulisic’s current deal expires in 2024 so there is definitely no rush in terms of negotiating an extension. Of course, with Chelsea currently subject to sanctions, no talks will be able to take place until there is new ownership anyway.

For now, it seems the 23-year-old has no designs on leaving Stamford Bridge. Whether the club decide to keep him, though, may depend on how he performs over the next year or so. His six goals and two assists in 28 matches this season is not exactly a great return.
