Chiriches May Join The Blues In The Summer

With the football season soon coming to an end, many transfer rumors are starting to emerge. Chelsea have had a tough season and it is clear that their current lineup is in need of some reinforcements. The mental and physical stress that comes with playing as many as 60 matches in a single season can be overwhelming even for some of the most well prepared athletes in the world. Several of Chelsea’s players have been complaining about the fact that having to deal with three matches in one week can even become dangerous to their career. Many of them have been out with injury at least once this season and continue to suffer as the end of the season approaches and gets more intense with each match.

Considering the fact that the Blues will have a crowded schedule next year as well, and also keeping in mind that their transfer policy is now directed to signing the best youngsters, a new name has been linked to Stamford Bridge. Vlad Chiriches, who is one of the most promising defenders Eastern Europe has to offer, has become a target for Chelsea in this summer’s transfer period. The 23 year old Romanian managed some impressive matches in both domestic and European competitions. He even managed to score against Chelsea and Ajax in the Europa League despite him being a center-back.

According to SkySports, Chiriches has also been linked to other big clubs such as Milan, Real Madrid and Zenit. Nothing is sure yet, as these rumors are coming from his agent, Victor Becali. According to his agent, the Romanian defender is valued at about £12.8 million pounds, which is probably one of the main reasons for him still playing for Steaua.

Becali also spoke about the fact that Chiriches may still want to spend another year with his current club, especially if they make it through the Champions League group stages. Steaua will win the Romanian Championship this season and should have a good chance of reaching the first stage of the most prestigious European inter-club competition.
