Chelsea’s Transfer Window So Far: What You Need To Know

Chelsea have already made five signings this summer and they are expected to make a few more before the transfer window shuts in five weeks time. We are going to summarise what has happened so far and anticipate what business the Blues may yet still do before deadline day.

In regards to the goalkeeping situation, things remain unresolved. It is thought that manager Frank Lampard would like to offload Kepa Arrizabalaga, either on loan or on a permanent basis in order to bring in a new number one.

The likes of Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak, Burnley’s Nick Pope, Ajax’s Andre Onana and Lille’s Mike Maignan have been looked at but, after spending heavily in other areas of the pitch, the club look to be going after a more cost-effective solution.

Rennes’ Edouard Mendy is currently Chelsea’s main target. After having had a first bid turned down, they have reportedly made a second offer in the region of £18m for the 28-year-old. It is not known yet whether the new proposal will be accepted.
