Mourinho has built such a strong team that there is not much to do in order to improve it. Sure, Chelsea might need a new striker and maybe a right wing but nothing is mandatory given the fact that all attacking positions are filled successfully by some of the world’s best. The most pressing issue is the defense. If Mourinho wants to dominate world football he needs to start transferring in order to allow newcomers to get integrated in the group and form the necessary relationship that will lead a team to success. Having Terry and Ivanovic around for a couple more years is also a reason for which transfers should be done now. New recruits would grow under Chelsea’s current defense and would be able to carry on the same winning mentality seen in the Blues’ captain or in the Serbian defender. But who are the players ready to replace what is probably the best defense in the world?

The number one target everyone was talking about is Varane. The Frenchman who has been one of Mourinho’s favorites at Real could definitely become the leader of the defense. He has the experience, the skill and the physique to make it. He might need to work on his attitude a bit and that is why he might need to spend one or two seasons next to Terry.

One other important target could be Lazio’s Stefan De Vrij. The 23 year old grew at a staggering rate in terms of gameplay and could be a great solution for Chelsea’s central axis.

According to Metro, Chelsea’s ,most recent target is Antonio Rudiger, a 22 year old center back who has impressed Mourinho with his performances for Stuttgart where he has been playing for the past three years. Hopefully at least one of these players will end up at Stamford Bridge this summer as all look amazing picks.
