Chelsea’s Managerial Team Really Likes Schurrle

With this season coming to an end, Chelsea have already zoned in on some major names that could really help to increase their fire power. Torres has improved of late but Demba Ba has had some mediocre performances just as Victor Moses has all season. With that in mind, Abramovich and his managerial staff have directed their attention towards a few of the best offensive players in Europe. Even if it looks like Falcao is the biggest priority, some other big names have made the Chelsea transfer wish-list.

According to Dailymail.co.uk, Chelsea’s first transfer will probably come from Germany. Leverkusen’s Andre Schurrle has been watched by Chelsea scouts for a really long time. The Blues even made an offer last year that fell short of the German’s side evaluation. Abramovich is now willing to pay as much as £20 million for the German international. Even if Benitez does leave Stamford Bridge at the end of this season as expected the young midfielder will still remain a priority. Schurrle would be an excellent investment considering the fact that his price will definitely go up in future seasons. He has already managed 22 appearances for his national team and has contributed with 16 goals for his club side.

The only problem with Schurrle’s transfer may come from the fact that the competition for a place in the starting line-up is fierce. He is more of an attacking midfielder rather than a striker and he will have to compete with Oscar, Mata and Hazard, who are all in the best form of their careers.

The current transfer strategy has nothing to do with Chelsea’s future management. All transfers are supervised by Michael Emenalo, who is currently looking for a second goalkeeper, which is a clear sign Courtois will stay with Atletico for good. That indicates that Falcao will come to Stamford Bridge as part of an exchange that will probably include the Belgian goalkeeper and maybe even Torres. If terms can be agreed Schurrle is expected to move to London next month.
