Chelsea’s Facing Big Obstacle In Attempt To Snap Up World Cup Finalist For 44M Release Clause

Chelsea are interested in signing Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele but he may not have his release clause set at €50m (£44m) for much longer, according to Mundo Deportivo.

As things stand, the Frenchman has a contract that includes a buyout fee of €100m (£87m) for January and €50m (£44m) for the summer. However, Barca are lining up a contract extension that would likely increase the price to sign the Frenchman significantly.

In addition to Graham Potter’s side, it is believed that Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham and even Wolves are keeping tabs on Dembele’s contract situation.

From the sound of things, though, the likelihood of the World Cup finalist being available for a low fee at the end of the season is looking increasingly unlikely.

Dembele is said to be happy at the Camp Nou, having been given a key role by manager Xavi this campaign, so Chelsea fans should temper their expectations regarding the player making the switch to Stamford Bridge.
