Chelsea’s Champions League Round Of 16 Opponents Have Been Announced

Chelsea will face Bayern Munich in the last 16 of the Champions League. The first leg will be played at Stamford Bridge in mid-February with the second game in Germany in early March.

Manager Frank Lampard would probably have preferred the home leg second, but they shouldn’t be fearful of a Bayern side who have already sacked their manager this campaign.

The Bundesliga champions are currently under the guidance of interim head coach Hans-Dieter Flick, and their recent form has been inconsistent, to say the least.

Bayern had a perfect 100% record in the group stages, winning their games against Tottenham, Olympiakos and Red Star Belgrade. However, their league form isn’t anything to write home about.

The German club currently sit fifth in the table; six points off leaders RB Leipzig, and while they won 6-1 against Werder Bremen at the weekend, they lost their two previous league fixtures against Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach.
