Well Manchester United may have grabbed the headlines this weekend with the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Everton and the departure of Wayne Rooney going back to Everton but Chelsea will not be fazed. The West London club have had some excellent results from their transfer policy in recent windows with the sales of the youngsters they have developed making them solid profits like the recent sale of Nathan Ake to Bournemouth for a reported fee of £20 million.

Their acquisitions in recent times have been impressive such as the superb buys they made last summer as David Luiz, Marcos Alonso and N’Golo Kante all played huge roles in the title win under Antonio Conte and Michy Batshuayi looks like a quality signing who will provide quality moving forward.

We will never know if Chelsea really wanted to bring Romelu Lukaku back but they still have a number of top strikers in their sights as Real Madrid’s Spanich international striker, Alvaro Morata may well be the man they really want as the player has worked successfully with Antonio Conte in the past and he may be the man that the Italian boss really wants now. The other striker who has strong connections to Antonio Conte is Swansea City’s Fernando Llorente who basically kept the Swans in the Premier League single handedly with his 15 precious goals many of which were game winners last term.

Of course while everyone expects Diego Costa to leave Chelsea it would not be the worst move if any issues between the club’s management and the player were ironed out so that the Spanish striker could continue to wear the blue of Chelsea in the coming season. Lets not forget that Costa had a blinding first half of the season last campaign and was a big reason why Chelsea won the title with his 20 goals in 35 league games.

The other strong options are Torino’s hitman Andrea Belotti who bagged 26 goals in 35 matches last season, Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who notched 31 goals in 32 matches last campaign and Paris Saint Germain’s Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani who scored 35 goals in 36 matches to lead the French league.

You would not put it past Chelsea to pull off a major coup like signing Monaco’s most wanted youngster Kylian Mbappé. Chelsea signed Eden Hazard when few people expected the Blues to sign the Belgian but the powers that be at Stamford Bridge completed the signing when all of Europe’s top clubs wanted him.

So while Man United have pulled off some big moves, as have Man City and Arsenal have added Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon it would be naive to think that Chelsea will not respond in a serious fashion. The Blues have shown in the past that they will make the moves they feel are right for them and this summer will be no different so Chelsea fans should remain confident that their team will be well placed to defend their title once their transfer business is concluded.
