Chelsea Were About To Move Demba Ba To Trabzonspor

According to the Daily Star, Chelsea were on the verge of sealing a deal with Turkish side Trabzonspor worth £7 million for their Senegalese striker Demba Ba, if it was not for Fernando Torres’ latest injury which has forced the Blues to call off the transfer and use Ba as a back-up to Samuel Eto’o.

Chelsea have been struggling in their striking department for the past few seasons with players not hitting form consistently. Ever since Didier Drogba decided to call it a day on his Chelsea career, questions were raised about the Ivorian’s successor. Fernando Torres was signed as the club’s most expensive signing at £50 million with hopes of regaining his Liverpool form, but the Spaniard has been struggling since day one.

Ba was signed by Chelsea after the striker’s fine form for former club Newcastle United. However, the striker has not showed sparkling form in his time at the Chelsea. Although, one could argue that the player has not been given enough opportunities to showcase his talent. Ba has not made that much of his limited chances.

After sitting on the bench for most of the season, Ba was about to seal a move to Trabzonspor, but for Torres’ latest injury. The failed move could be a blessing in disguise, as the increase in intensity of matches could bring out the best in the 28-year old striker.
