Chelsea Weigh Up Triggering £39m Buyback Option On Dutch International

Chelsea will consider buying back Nathan Ake from Bournemouth if their transfer ban is lifted during the summer transfer window, according to reports in the Dutch media.

In addition to the Blues, Tottenham and Napoli are also said to be keen on the Netherlands international.

The Italian club would reportedly make a move for Ake if Kalidou Koulibaly is sold to Manchester United at the end of the season.

Chelsea, however, do have a buyback option of €45m (£39m) which makes them the favourites for the 24-year-old.

The Blues are hoping that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) suspend Fifa’s transfer ban during their appeal, otherwise they could be short of centre-backs in the summer.

Captain Gary Cahill is expected to leave on a free transfer while there are still doubts over David Luiz’s future with his contract yet to be renewed despite the 31-year-old nearing the end of his current deal.
