Chelsea are keeping tabs on Lyon playmaker Houssem Aouar, according to reports in the English media.

The Blues are reportedly weighing up a move for the 20-year-old as they look to improve their creativity in midfield.

Manager Maurizio Sarri has quite a few similar players in the middle of the park who could be described as box to box midfielders.

The likes of Mateo Kovacic, Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek all like running with the ball, but it seems Chelsea are looking for something different, with bit more guile and technical ability.

Aouar would fit that bill. The French Under 21 star has five goals and four assists from 17 appearances his season. He can play either in the no.10 role or as a left winger, and would certainly offer the Blues an alternative to Eden Hazard.

Chelsea are likely to have a battle on their hands for the midfielder, however, with Liverpool reportedly having a long-standing interest in the player, with Arsenal also keen.
