Chelsea vs West Brom – Match Preview And Prediction

Chelsea welcome Tony Pulis’ West Bromwich Albion side to Stamford Bridge for Sunday’s midday kick-off in the Premier League with the Blues looking to extend their impressive 8 game winning streak and remain top of the League. The Baggies sit in a very impressive 7th position in the table and they actually have a positive goal difference for once having scored a decent 20 goals while conceding 17. It is actually West Brom’s second best start to a Premier League season so they are a confident side at the minute.

Chelsea have not had a problem scoring goals this season either as they have bulged the net on 32 occasions in the League and are only behind Liverpool and Arsenal in team goals.  The form book certainly favours the Blues as they are unbeaten in their last 10 games at Stamford Bridge in the League vs West Brom and have won an impressive 8 of those games but they have drawn in the last 2 seasons. Antonio Conte will not be taking West Brom lightly and most likely will stick with a similar line-up to last weekend’s game as he has been very consistent in his team selection only making 8 changes to his side so far this season which is a Premier League low. Interestingly after 14 games last campaign, Jose Mourinho had already made a whopping 35 changes so this suggests that the Blues really are benefitting from the stability and balanced approach that Antonio Conte has brought to the team.

While Diego Costa is leading the league and his club in scoring tied with Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez on 11 goals, the team have been getting goals from all areas. Eden Hazard has added an impressive 8 league goals while Willian, Pedro and Victor Moses have been solid all scoring 3 goals. Interestingly last season Chelsea got goals from an unusual source with Cesar Azpilicueta scoring in both matches against West Brom. The left-back scored the opening goal in the 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge and cracked the winner in Chelsea’s 3-2 win at the Hawthorns.

We see the match being tight for much of it but in their current rich vein of form we can only see one winner and that of course is Antonio Conte and Chelsea. Cream rises to the top and we reckon the Blues will come out on top by a 3-1 scoreline with Costa finding the net again. Willian looks good for a start after he impressed last week against Man City with an energetic performance as a second half substitute for Pedro which he capped with a fine goal. It will also be interesting to see if Cesc Fabregas retains his place in the starting XI but whatever selections Conte makes we feel like Chelsea will have more than enough to take care of Tony Pulis’ Baggies.
