Chelsea Vs Watford Match Preview And Prediction

So Chelsea play their first game tonight since the transfer window shut. The Blues have a London derby to contend with as they face Watford at Vicarage Road with kick-off at 7.45pm in the Barclays Premier League. Chelsea added Alexandre Pato and Matt Miazga from Corinthians and New York Red Bulls respectively to their 1st team squad in the winter transfer window although neither will play tonight as Pato has not played since November and Miazga is not match fit either since it is the off-season for both. Chelsea did lose a few members of their first team squad as Ramires was sold to Chinese club Jiangsu Suning, they loaned Papy Djilobodji who has barely played to Werder Bremen and Patrick Bamford was loaned to Norwich but he will not be missed as he was on loan for the 1st half of the season. So Chelsea should be a little stronger if anything but should not be any weaker for the second half of the season.

The last time these two clubs faced each other was only this past Boxing day when they tied 2-2 with Chelsea scoring with both of their shots on target. Chelsea have managed to gain 28 points from the 23 League games they have played so far this season whereas they only required 11 games last campaign to get that many points in their title winning campaign but this should mean little tonight as Chelsea seem to have turned the corner form wise after their recent run of good performances under Guus Hiddink has shown and in particular their 5-1 thumping of MK Dons in the FA Cup on Sunday. If you couple this with the fact that Chelsea have won 7 and drawn 2 of the last 9 games they have played against the hornets in all competitions and you begin to think that a Chelsea win tonight is very much on the cards.

Even though Watford sit in 10th in the League with 32 points and Chelsea are in 14th with 28 points we reckon the Blues will come out on top 2-1 tonight and will close to within a point of the hornets.
