Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur Latest Injury News As Poch Tries To End Chelsea’s 28 Year Unbeaten Streak At The Bridge

Chelsea really need to win against Spurs as their top 4 aspirations depends on it. Conte’s side is in danger of missing out on the Champions League as they are currently 5th in the Premier League. With 5 points between them and their Sunday adversaries, there is no other option than a victory.

Conte must keep the Blues motivated as there is a big chance Tottenham will lose at least one more game after the Chelsea clash and the Blues must aim to win or at least not lose any of their remaining games.

Spurs have to face Man City and a tricky match against Leicester City who are capable of anything plus a number of other games against relegation threatened teams who will be desperate for points.

Spurs of course have added motivation to stay to finish ahead of North London rivals Arsenal for another year.

While the Stamford Bridge side have rivals Liverpool and a last day match away to bogey team Newcastle plus several games against desperate relegation threatened sides as well to worry about until the end of the season.

So maybe Chelsea have a slightly easier run-in but on paper there is not much to choose between Spurs’ remaining games and Chelsea’s.

No matter what happens after the game, Chelsea need to make a massive statement by beating Spurs on Sunday.

There is also a matter of pride here and a matter of maintaining one of the most impressive records in the PL though. As mentioned in our previous article – Tottenham game a must win insists Antonio Conte – not giving in at home to a team like Tottenham for 28 years is something to hang on to.

Even with Chelsea’s poor form especially against top teams in Europe and domestically, it looks like many are expecting Tottenham to lose at the Bridge. The only thing that might prevent that from happening is a series of injuries that include the following:

David Luiz – Ankle Injury – out since February. Probably the biggest absence, the Brazilian will return at the end of the month if everything goes as expected. He could likely be featured in the FA Cup semi-final on the 24th of April.

Ross Barkley – Hamstring Injury – out since February 2nd. No chance of seeing him on the pitch for the 1st team sooner than the 31st of March as he is playing for the U23 team on Saturday.

Thibaut Courtois who suffered a hamstring injury and Andreas Christensen who is nursing a knock will be game time decisions for the Blues but both have a good chance of playng.

Tottenham have a smaller number of injured players but one absence might weigh in much more than others.

Harry Kane who suffered an ankle injury is uncertain and is unlikely to be 100% recovered by Sunday.

The other absentee, Harry Winks will not be available as he is out indefinitely.

Looking at the injuries above, it is safe to say that Tottenham have it worse but Mauricio Pochettino has been saying that Harry Kane has a chance of playing the match in recent interviews. While Luiz is a key miss for Chelsea, his impact on the game is not as big as Kane’s normally is. That might just push the balance even more in Conte’s favour.

We see it being a classic Premier League London derby with Chelsea pulling off the win by a 2-1 scoreline.
